Gallery Pejean is an exciting platform for Australian contemporary art, showcasing both established and emerging artists, with a focus on Tasmanian artists.
Located in the heart of Launceston’s CBD in the vibrant George Street precinct, Gallery Pejean is a commercial art gallery that promotes and presents the work of contemporary visual artists, working across a broad spectrum of mediums and artistic platforms.
Director Margot Baird brings to the gallery her experience as an art teacher and lecturer, an art collector, a practicing artist, and an interior designer. She is committed to the presentation and promotion of serious contemporary art by a select group of innovative artists whose practice takes on a challenging position within today's visual culture. Artists represented reflect the shifting interests and concerns of contemporary art practice.
Gallery Pejean is committed to promoting the work of Australian artists and ensures that the gallery’s exhibition program provides opportunities to both emerging and established artists’ practices. With two separate gallery spaces, a monthly program of exhibitions allows for both solo exhibitions and group shows, while constantly showcasing the gallery’s select group of artists.
The aim of the exhibition program is to provide a variety of exhibiting opportunities for emerging and established artists so that their contribution to art will reach a greater audience locally and globally; to increase public awareness of the exciting local art scene; and provide the local and global audience with a variety of exemplary artist practices across a broad spectrum of mediums.
