JENNIFER DICKENS : - Looking glass self is a body of work resulting from a recent residency at the Rosamond McCulloch Studio, Cite Internationale des Arts, Paris where I visually explored the premium perception of the French culture “brand”, particularly in relation to consumerism underpinned by theories of fetishism, objectification and desire. The resulting complex visually dense multi-layered glass reflections of shop windows create unexpected relationships and juxtapositions and have the potential to act as a language of transformation.
KITTY TAYLOR :- At times autobiographical, sometimes not, the work is not staged. The images are merely capturing what I see in the worlds I inhabit. Documenting life as it unfolds I edit with my personal aesthetic and by what I omit from the frame. While the images are taken in Tasmania, Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney, Perth, and throughout recent travel to Malaysia, the location seems not to matter, it's the life force and the quest of the individual that is of importance.
My piece 'Chaos/Creation' has nine parts. It depicts the individuals struggle to find a sense of self, to define and refine.
'Morpheus' is were we process the imagery from our waking lives in the form of dreams and desires, also in 9 parts.
'Nix' is a work still evolving.
SARAH RHODES: - The ongoing series Play (2008 - ) looks at children using the magical, yet dark, world of play to transition into teenagehood. Set on the banks of the Break O'Day River, in Tasmania, Sarah studies how children test themselves and others in games of survival. Her interest lies in how children problem solve and how they deal with intense emotional experiences. As they are neither children nor adults, they are learning to manage their emotions and are developing an understanding as to who they are and how they express themselves.
