'Cargo'
An exhibition of unique sculptures by
ED KING
Cargo is a language Inspired by abstract interpretations, symbols and shared cultural references. These sculptures use a variety of rare objects and minor species Tasmanian timbers. The foundry moulds or patterns are easily 80-100 years old. Some of the timbers are estimated to take at least a thousand years to reach maturity.
Titles are in obsolete Latin and offer lyrical and sometimes brutal translations. A manipulated collection of artefacts and relics, Cargo indicates my desire to create obsolete technologies within a sculptural / maritime theme. The objects themselves represent both my considered thoughts and misunderstandings of art, society and culture.
